Empire Barber Shop on Forest Ave is hands down one of the best barbershops on Staten Island. The shop itself is well designed with a creative layout and great lighting, which already sets the tone when you walk in. It’s clean, professional, and has a really welcoming, diverse atmosphere. I’ve had three different barbers cut my hair there, and every single one of them delivered a Grade A job. That says a lot about the overall skill level in the shop. Most recently, I’ve been going to “Fat Johnny,” and while he’s not actually fat, I’m hoping this review makes his pockets fat. The man is talented. I’ve got a tricky hairline and a weird growth pattern, and Johnny somehow always gets it right without me even having to explain it. He blends everything clean, keeps it natural, and never overdoes the lineup. The fade is smooth, detailed, and balanced. You can tell he takes his time and pays attention. From what I’ve seen, they’re comfortable cutting all hair types and textures. Everyone in there knows what they’re doing. It’s also conveniently located, there’s parking available, and it’s just an easy experience overall. If you’re on the Island and need a consistent, professional cut, give Empire a shot. You won’t be disappointed.

My 2nd time getting a hair cut here.. great experience. My 1st cut was by Billy, which came out perfect. Today I went in and Billy was off. I tried Uriel and couldn’t be happier. Great skin fade. Also good work with scissors on top.
