This might be the second time I’ve reviewed this place but I don’t care, they deserve every positive review they get! I’ve seen several therapists here over the years and each one is excellent (special shoutout to Megan and Joy). Go see them—it’s truly the best massage you will get!

I’ve been getting massages her for several years. There are options for Thai, and Swedish, and deep tissue. I usually get the latter, currently with Joy.

I’m conflicted as I write this review. Every part of me wants to gatekeep this place, but it’s just too good not to spread the word! I’ve been receiving deep tissue massages for the past 9 years, averaging 8-12 massages per year. I’ve received massages from sole-practitioners, small businesses, Massage Envy, Elements, hotel massages, a beachside massage in Aruba, and even a Turkish bath massage in Istanbul. But the best massage I’ve ever received, hands down, is from Nita at Cloud9 Massage & Wellness in Somerville’s Teele Square. For context, I work out 5 days a week, averaging 2-3 hours per day. I do a combination of weight lifting and cardio. On top of this, I’m a Preschool teacher, always on my feet, picking up the little ones, and squatting to change diapers and apply countless Band-Aids. My body feels like it’s perpetually broken, with knots and tightness. (And yes, of course I stretch and take rest days!!) All of this being said, I consider massage as a necessary and beneficial form of self-care, and it’s worth every penny! I book the 55-minute, Cloud9 Signature massage every time. Nita uses a combination of deep tissue and Thai massage. I haven’t actually seen it with my own eyes, but I believe she uses hot stones, too. Simply tell her the areas that require special attention, let her know your preferred pressure (weak, medium, firm, deep), and she’ll do the rest. The scalp massages are my favorite part! (See the attached photo – crazy hair, don’t care! But you know that the scalp massage is outstanding when your hair looks like this, LOL! This is seriously such a funny and ridiculous pic - it was too good not to post!) Because I prefer deep tissue massages to get all of my knots out, I can confirm that this is NOT a relaxing, time-for-a-nap, sort of massage. If that’s what you’re looking for, ask for a lighter pressure...but if you're looking to be gently rubbed to sleep, then perhaps you should consider the Massage Envy in Arlington. The facility is simple and clean. I also know that some of the studios, if not all, have bars on the ceilings so that the therapist can provide massage with his or her feet. (My husband is at least twice my size and receives this type of massage during his session. Although, I haven’t received it, to my knowledge.) The staff is very kind and attentive. There is a $10 discount when you pay with cash. Parking is metered street parking, but if you’re a Somerville resident, you can find on-street parking on the side streets. My review is mainly for Nita, regarding massage. However, if you’re into facials, then I highly recommend Kate! While Kate is also a massage therapist, I’ve only used her for facials – which I love! If Kate can massage as well as she gives facials, (which wouldn't surprise me,) then you should book her for massage, too! So, the secret’s out! Cloud9 Massage is where it’s at! (And if you like Thai massage, then you should also try eating exceptional and authentic Thai food at BoonNoon Market, just a 5-minute drive away. Kidding – these places have nothing to do with each other, except that all of my favorite Thai people are at both Cloud9 and BoonNoon Market. BoonNoon Market is a hidden gem restaurant in Arlington, and this is my shameless plug for you to visit them, 555555!)

Had an excellent signature massage with Joy! They had excellent technique that really loosened up my tents lower back and upper shoulders. Would strongly recommend folks to come in for a deep tissue massage and with hot stones!

We had a fantastic couples massage here. In just an hour appointment, they worked out a bunch of painful tension knots across our backs and necks. Great pressure and stretches. We left feeling so much relief!
