Lily is amazing! She takes the time to really listen and asks thoughtful questions to fully understand what I’m looking for. I appreciate her honest feedback and professional insight, it makes such a difference. She’s incredibly personable and professional, which makes every visit enjoyable and comfortable. I grew up going to this salon, and I didn’t realize how good I had it. My sister and I were just reminiscing on how much we loved this salon, and how we still haven’t found one in our adult lives that compares. I live in NYC, which is allegedly a fashion hub, yet I cannot find a salon as good as Cole’s. For example, I have been trying to dye my hair, and I’m always told by hairstylists that they can’t dye my virgin hair without bleach, even though 10+ years ago, Coles Salon Cedar Cliff dyed it without bleach. Additionally, I’m currently trying to find bridal hair stylists, and everyone makes a big fuss that I have naturally curly hair. Growing up, I got my hair done at Coles Salon for prom, and no one ever complained about my hair being curly. No one at Coles expected me to straighten my hair before styling it, which contradicts every stylist I have run into outside of Coles now. Additionally, I’m trying to find someone to do bridal makeup, and it’s difficult to find people that can work with tanner skin tones. Coles Salon also did my makeup and used makeup that worked perfectly with my tanner skin tone. Looking back on it, my sister and I are so grateful that this salon was so inclusive - we didn’t know it at the time, but the stylists here made us feel so great about ourselves because they worked with our features. It was pivotal in our childhood to have this kind of our welcoming environment - it wasn’t until we were adults, moved away, and met stylists outside of Coles that we realized our curly hair was treated as a problem in the beauty industry. It wasn’t until I left Coles, I realized that having a makeup artist who can work with different skin tones is rare! All this to say, now that I’ve left Minnesota, I can’t find hairstylists, artists, and estheticians that can even compare to the work that is done at this salon. This place is an absolute gem. I miss it so much!!

Melina was excellent!! She greeted me warmly, she listened to my ideas, she offered feedback and asked follow-up questions. She was precise! She was very customer oriented! She explained the products she used! She offered to curl my hair and explained why she was using a flat iron. I am very impressed with her and I love my cut!! I'll be back! I have been with Janessa for many years. Throughout those years we have experimented with colors and different styles. She has a keen sense of what will work with my hair type and will make suggestions or modifications if needed. Janessa has a sweet disposition and a gentle approach.
