I had an incredible experience getting my tattoo with Viet! Like a lot of folk, I get anxiety when booking a tattoo. One of my main worries is that the artist and I will be on a different page concerning the art, and that the artist will be unwilling to make adjustments. I did NOT have to worry about that with Viet. He was really responsive and understanding. The black and white sketch (see photos) was his original design. When I asked to change the face to better represent a black masc person (I am black and transmasc) he was immediately open to adjusting his work. He was also able to effortlessly tattoo over my healed scars and he applied a 2nd skin which made healing a breeze. He has an easy-to-use messaging service that made it easy to stay in touch leading up to the session. The shop had great vibes. It felt easy to sit for 5ish hours. I had to stop myself from falling asleep I was so relaxed. Viet made it clear several times that he was more concerned with delivering the highest quality of work than he was about getting the tat complete. I never felt like he was rushing to get me out the door. I will definitely be coming back to Viet when I'm ready for more ink. My only complaint is that I have to wait to book again until I can save up for it! 10/10

This is my first time coming here and booking a tattoo appointment at East Side Tattoo was super easy. After booking an appointment with Viet, he reached out to me and we figured out a day for me to come in. Showing up to my appointment, check-in was very simple and the shop felt cozy and at home. Viet was super kind and friendly, walking me through and prepping the tattoo. He even changed up the original tiger design of what I chose at first and it came out to be amazing. The vibes throughout the 5+ hours I spent there was great, even got too comfortable and fell asleep a couple of times during my session. Super professional and sanitary, had a few laughs from both Jay as well. Overall, this shop is amazing, and Viet did a super great job. Very talented and professional! Will definitely be coming back in for future sessions!

This shop was recommended by a close friend and I was surprised how close it was to me. The shop was very clean and inviting and the staff was awesome. They made me feel right at home as soon I walked in. I came in because I’ve been putting off getting a tattoo and already had an artist ready to do it for me. Can’t wait to get my new tattoo 🙏❤️🤘

Viet just gave me a killer tiger tattoo, I’m very very happy with it!!! I’ve always wanted a tiger tat and he did a stellar job, I cannot emphasize enough!! He’s very gentle and it feels great to have his art on me :) Had a good time chit chatting with the other artists there too, everyone’s quite friendly and the energy is a nice calm.. perfect for relaxing into.

I flew up from Los Angeles to get my first ankle tattoo! Viet is a true artist. He consulted with me and gave me several choices based off of my vision for the tattoo. The energy at the shop is so positive, you feel like you’re hanging with friends in a clean and cool living room and getting a great tattoo while you’re at it! The playlist at the time was on point. Great location in Portland. The owner and all of their artists know what they’re talking about and have their own unique styles. I’ll be back for me!
