After 5 years of searching and disappointment, I finally found my blonde hairstylist! (And everything in between- Martha Ellen I trust you with my LIFE) I’m truly in love with the mirror all thanks to Martha Ellen and Anais. I had gotten a haircuts done by Anais who did such a wonderful job and a partial of highlights done by Martha Ellen. It’s been so difficult for me to find someone who truly understands my vision, and who takes preventative measures to avoid damage when it comes to bleaching my hair. Martha Ellen walked through all the possibilities in our consultation, and made it truly come to life!! I cannot recommend this salon enough. It’s such a welcoming environment (equipped with a fuzzy little dog), the staff is so nice, and they will truly take the time to understand what you want, and make it your reality. Thank you so much, Head Chop! See you when I need a touch up ;)

My initial impression of the salon was impeccable customer service and overwhelmingly warm vibes. This started with the introductory phone call and carried through every interaction—with Martha (Owner), Andrew (Reception), and especially with Sarah (Stylist). The entire team exudes positive energy. Sarah was incredibly welcoming and patient, taking the time to offer the best options for my needs. She expertly revived my pixie cut and color, and her product recommendations for my routine maintenance were spot-on. This experience was definitely worth the price. I am already looking forward to my next visit.

What a gem!! I’m so glad I was able to get my hair dyed here. My stylist, Kamie, really knew what she was doing, took great care with my curls and the color and style came out exactly how I imagined it! Couldn’t have been a better experience, and I look forward to coming back!

Best haircuts for curly hair. I suffered from COVID related hairloss and used to have long luscious curls that became sparse and sad. My hair was falling out in clumps. I reached out to Martha Ellen who treated me with so much warmth and kindness and understanding. She saw me for a consultation first and then had me back for a haircut - I wanted to cut it super short for the first time in my life and I was super nervous. Suffice to say, it was the best hair cutting experience I've ever had. She took so much time and care to cut every single curl, check in with me about length, and set my hair so it felt full and not scanty for the first time in ages. I walked out feeling so confident and happy with my hair after being so devastated by it for so long. And not only that, she gave me so many tips on how to encourage re-growth, vitamins to take that worked for her other customers.. I could cry for how happy it made me. She's a really wonderful human and really so talented. It was also my most expensive haircut, but worth every penny. I'll never go anywhere else.

Updated to inform that Jackie moved and is no longer at this salon. My first experience at Headchop was a good one. The salon is located in a cozy nook, at the garden level. The space itself is unique, with a homey, eclectic vibe. When I moved to NYC from Chicago this past summer, I knew that I would need to find a great colorist. I had been seeing a colorist for a few years in Chicago and he recommended Jackie. Jackie has colored, cut and styled my hair on two occasions. She gave me two different shades of warm, vibrant brown and I was happy both times! Jackie is great at her craft, highly knowledgeable and skilled at both color and cut. She will go the extra mile for you to feel 100% happy with your hair. This is very important to me, because sometimes, color may not come out as you hoped. The last colorist I was seeing, never got back to me when I let her know that the color didn't take on my hair, only the roots. Sadly, I walked around with two different colors and it caused me to not return to that salon. I don't have to worry about this with Jackie because I know she would feel bad if I didn't like my hair. Jackie is friendly, down to earth and personable. She definitely makes you feel like you're speaking to a friend you've known for quite some time, not just a random customer sitting down in her chair. Totally recommend Jackie!!
