I’ve been using Madison Reed color at home for a while and got sick and tired of having to touch up my roots at home. I love the shade and tone of Madison Reed’s Umbria Brown. Every time I went to different salons when I didn’t want to do my own roots, I was never happy with the color and felt robbed $$ The color never quite matched and was off. I’d end up redoing with Madison Reed color at home. I finally decided to try out Madison Reed’s Color Bar and their membership for roots. I love the ease of scheduling through their app and that they have color bars throughout the country. I think this is a perfect service for people that need root touchups frequently (graying hair or lighter/darker roots that the color growing out). I recommend it to anyone that only needs a single process color or roots and is familiar with Madison Reed’s color line. Their colors tend to run darker in the brown shades (I can’t speak for other colors), so I’d recommend consulting with the color tech and potentially picking a level lighter. Also (from my at home experience) if the color isn’t at least a double N (NN) it won’t cover gray well no mater how long it sits so keep this in mind when picking a shade. Also their color glosses for brunettes are quite dark, so be mindful if you are trying to preserve highlights. If you need your pesky roots kept in check, this is your place. Remember this isn’t a high end full service salon, so if you manage your expectations, I think you will be happy with the service.

I am so very grateful for Wendy at Madison Reed. She is amazing at choosing the right shade and Wendy introduced me to ColorWonder. It is demi=permanent and gentle on the hair. Everyone at the Vernon Hills Salon is lovely. I would not trust my hair to anyone else.

I had a great experience at the Vernon Hills, Illinois location. The salon is located behind the Whole Foods in a strip mall. The place was very clean and organized. They follow Covid guidelines which was re-assuring. Gina colored my hair and was super friendly. She was very professional and displayed great concern that I get the right color. She came to me several times as I was processing asking if I needed a bottle of water or anything. Cassandra was fabulous too. She did my blowout which came out amazing. These 2 women make an excellent team. Very knowledgeable, low pressure and actually made the experience fun and enjoyable.
