This is a long overdue review - I absolutely LOVE Marie and the Madusalon folks , both for their skills and for their warmth and friendly attitude. I left SF last year since I was moving (back) to India and I asked Marie to give me a cut that would stay for a year till I got my bearings in the new place. I don’t know what magic she did but when I finally went for a cut 14 months later, it still looked great and not at all flat. Obviously , not recommending waiting that long (!) but it just speaks to her skills. She also gently coaxed me out of my hair oiling regime which is a cultural practice for Indians but doesn’t really work for curly hair. The whole process - from booking to the actual service - was always very seamless. Also, as somebody with lots of feelings, I just felt so welcomed at Madusalon that I almost got teary-eyed leaving them. When I told them I was moving back after a decade , Marie and the other ladies shared their wishes and wisdom and I could just feel their genuine warmth. Thank you ladies, I miss you all! It’s been quite lovely to be back and i feel I got a new lease on life. I’ll definitely come in again whenever i visit SF :)

I love my visits to MaduSalon! It's such a cozy and warm atmosphere. My stylist, Arlevia, is such a generous and genuine spirit and I think everyone is like that there. I went there seeking expertise with curly hair and it does not disappoint! My curls have never been healthier. Thank you!

I had a terrible tangle and called all over the city to find somewhere that could help. Karen spent 6 hours on detangling and restoring my head to greatness. It was truly a labor of love. I had a relaxing afternoon with the Madi staff, who made me feel welcomed like a king with tea and good vibes. I highly recommend Madu.

I'm so happy with my wavy/curly cut by Jaretta! This was my first dry cut, and the end result was so much better than wet cuts with a blowout that I've had in the past. My hair has never been this curly and easy to style after a cut. Jaretta was a dream hairstylist: friendly, checking in and keeping open communication about what I wanted from the cut, making sure the cut actually fit my needs (as a low-maintenance, air-dry and no or minimal product hair person), and answering questions and sharing information about how I could use product or style my hair if I wanted to (in an accessible and not at all pushy way). Finally, a hairstylist that I'm excited to return to!

When my scheduled stylist was ill, I was lucky to be accommodated by Arlevia though she was quite busy that day. Looking at the results of my hair and the other customers who came in that day I can tell you that Arlevia and Marie are quite talented with curly hair. For reference I have type 4a/4b hair
