About OBX Ink
OBX Ink sees each client in Waves not as a transaction, but as a canvas. They offer everything from small, meaningful symbols to elaborate, full-sleeve masterpieces, always taking the time for thorough consultations beforehand. Returning clients know they can rely on consistent quality, as the core team has remained dedicated for years, a rarity in the industry. It's more than just a tattoo shop; it's a place where stories are etched into skin, carefully considered and skillfully executed.
The experience at OBX Ink is tailored to the individual. From the moment you step through the door, you’re greeted with a friendly, professional atmosphere. The artists take the time to understand your vision, offering guidance and expertise to ensure the final result exceeds expectations. The shop itself is meticulously clean and organized, reflecting their commitment to hygiene and safety. During slower off-season months, you may find the artists have more time for walk-ins or larger projects, allowing for a more relaxed and personalized experience. For many, you see that the scent of the ocean breeze mixes with the sterile environment, creating a unique Outer Banks vibe.

Even after years of success, they actively seek out new techniques, attend workshops, and collaborate with other artists to stay at the forefront of the industry. Me and my wife came as walk ins. Derek was hard to read at first kinda got mixed vibes but after a few minutes I knew we were on the right place had a good time with good people. Shop was clean and well put together. Could tell experience is bountiful here. Art work came out clean and couldn't be happier! Go check them out!!!
Shawna Whitford — 5/5 (via Google)
Derek was awesome! He has a wealth of knowledge and experience. The shop was very clean and inviting. He was very meticulous with his work. I plan to go back and have him rework an old tattoo done from another artist. Thank you Derek!
Crissy Ewing — 5/5 (via Google)
Loved it! He made sure all 3 of us were happy with not only price but size of our tattoos as well. Very friendly and a memorable time I will get to keep with me forever!
Timothy Horton — 5/5 (via Google)
Derek may come off a little harsh at times, but please understand that he is running a tattoo shop where the work being done is permanent. It’s his job to give you his honest, professional opinion. Personally, I chose to go there because of his reviews. I want an artist who will tell me if the spot I picked isn’t the best choice—and explain why—because a tattoo is for life. Shane did my piece, he has good solid lines!
