The best barber shop I have gone to without a doubt. The atmosphere is very friendly, and I definitely plan on being a regular going forward. James did a great job at capturing what haircut I wanted from my reference photos I brought in, and made sure It the cut fit exactly what I was looking for.

Scheduled an appointment on Sunday which was long overdue. I really don’t know what to do with hair style and AJ was really knowledgeable about what would look best. The environment is really cool and the owner stopped in who was equally nice. Defiantly coming back even though I live over two hours away.

Patsy's Barber Shop is the best. Every haircut I've gotten at Patsy's was better than any haircut I've gotten anywhere else. I know there's other good barbers out there but this place is just so right. The vibe is great. The owner is top-notch, and bends over backwards for his clients. I think a lot about what to buy, where to go for services, etc. When I found Patsy's I knew I wouldn't need to look for another barber again.

You can stop looking. Patsy’s is the best barbershop in the Capital Region. There are plenty of well-reviewed shops around here, and it can be challenging to find the ones that are truly great. What sets Patsy’s apart is that the experience is the priority. They pay attention, ask the right questions, and translate what you are trying to describe into something that works, even when you are not totally sure how to explain it. I have been coming here for over a year, probably closer to two, and Patsy’s has taught me what I should be looking for in a barbershop. After cancer treatment, my hair changed in a way I did not expect. Thinner, different texture, even the color felt a little different. I tried a few other places, and even when I explained what was going on, I did not feel like it was sinking in. James is a big reason I keep coming back. He took the time over multiple visits, and we slowly worked out a cut that fits my hair now. It is repeatable enough that I can confidently ask for it anywhere. Jay was also a huge help when I was still getting used to the new texture, especially with product advice that was practical and made a real difference. The shop itself is part of what makes Patsy’s a standout. It has real Albany history and character, and it still feels like it has kept the soul of what it was when it opened in 1930. They also make a fair number of products in-house, and they offer coffee or a beer while you wait. On top of that, Patsy’s is one of the few barbershops to open at 7 AM during the week, which makes it easy to get in before work. If you care about a consistently great cut and a shop that treats customers the right way, Patsy’s is the one.

If you were looking for a true old school barbershop experience this place is it! James is exceptional; not only does he give consistently great haircuts, he is genuinely conversational and makes every visit relaxed and enjoyable. The straight blade shave with a warm towel is classic in the best possible way - smooth and nostalgic like stepping back in time when craftsmanship mattered. Enjoy a Complementary coffee or beer while you wait (although if you have an appointment, you rarely have to ). My six-year-old son also looks forward to his haircut experience at Patsys due to the welcoming atmosphere, comic books, and of course lollipop ending.
