Getting your hair done can a bit nerve wrecking (coming from a blonde who didn’t get her hair redone for over a year) but from start to finish my time at Salon 689 was exceptional. The salon is run by Alain Pinon who I was lucky enough to see for my cut, a true expert at his craft. It was honestly mesmerizing to watch how effortlessly he approached my cut. As per my color, Violet gave me my dream balayage. The root to end blend is seamless, I have been nervous to re-dye my blonde but she understood my vision & is also clearly an expert in her craft. & finally the lovely Yaz who assisted in the styling of my hair which left me feeling like a bombshell! The workers in the salon are great people, everyone seems happy to be there which again is an ode to the salons great leadership. They also provided me with several beverages (n-a) during my visit, have the cutest coat check where your robe number is your pickup number, provide plastic covers for your purse… essentially the experience was priceless- a must book!

New year decided to do new look with my hair, Vincent took it all and above and made my hair look new and fresh with a beautiful transformation! Was in awe with the ending results! Customer service and hospitality 10/10 very attentive with clients as well and always proving and amazing experience to anyone. Would recommend to visit

Updated - I have been on a color transformation journey with Violet and she has done a phenomenal job at color correction. I love my hair color. She is incredibly gifted at hair color and has a true eye for hues. Plus she is a pleasure to work with. Also, five stars for Vincent who has done an incredible job with my post-color blowouts. His positive energy and love of what he does radiates in his work! He is true pleasure to talk to and does an amazing blowout with ease and speed - full of volume and bounce. He is an excellent communicator and explains the products he uses and their benefits for my hair. I couldn’t be happier with my hair results with both Violet and Vincent. As I mentioned in my earlier review, you will not be disappointed with the entire salon and staff. Everyone is so friendly and welcoming and makes you feel truly at home. Salon 689 has an all-star team who helps your hair look its best. Salon 689 truly sets itself apart from the many NYC high-end salons. The location is super convenient to many transit options and is a beautiful large space. The entire staff is warm and welcoming. The service is top notch and stylists are best in class yet the salon maintains a low-key and relaxed vibe. I see Violet for color and she is a color wizard who can easily see what color works best for your skin tone. We have been on a color correction journey since I arrived at the salon with a real color mess. She’s been incredible throughout the process, explaining each step and I’ve been thrilled with the results. She is a phenomenal colorist and very warm and kind! I also see Mimi for haircuts and styling. She is funny and kind and tames my frizz with ease. She does a phenomenal blowout that truly lasts and did a wonderful job trimming my hair. When I didn’t want to take much length off, she listened and cleaned up my hair by giving it some subtle layers. She is a talented stylist! I’ve also seen Stacy and Marie for blowouts and they do a great job and were both warm and friendly. I highly recommend Salon 689 for its wonderful and welcoming atmosphere and top notch team. My hair has never looked better and it’s always a great experience!

I saw Nikki for cut, and Ryan for going an ash blonde. Nikki is incredible, very welcoming, and always gives me such a great shape! It was my first time seeing Ryan to go blonde, and my hair is a very stubborn lift and he did a great job! Perfect for when I want to have a little fun with some semi-permanent dyes on my own before my next big chop!

Marie is the best!! Not only is she an incredible hair stylist but she is also just the sweetest person to talk to while you are getting your haircut. She always has an incredible vision for my hair and makes it even better than I could have imagined. I have gone to her consistently to get my hair cut since I move to nyc and always leave so happy. She does an incredible job cutting layers and with a butterfly cut- and she knows exactly what style of curtain bangs fit each face frame. Marianna was also so kind and the whole salon is beautiful.
