Stopped by on 8/30/2025 at 2:25 & I was greeted by Anthony before I could say hello. Was able to schedule a walk in appointment, was prompt, clean, detailed, welcoming & professional. Entire staff was AMAZING! If you’re looking for a barber in the river north area definitely do yourself a favor and book Anthony 👍👍 I’ve already booked my next appointment.

I’m in Chicago for business on and off for the next couple weeks and I’m unable to go to my regular spot in Dallas until the end of the month. I called Talc + Tonic and inquired about a side burn and neck trim to hold me over. They said I could just stop by which I did around lunch time, and I took a seat in Anthony’s chair. Looking at myself in the mirror, I knew I needed more than a side burn and neck trim. I asked if he had time for a haircut. He did… I also ended up opting for a hot lather shave. Anthony did an excellent job on my haircut and shave. Also had a great conversation with him the whole time. I’m very much a creature of habit and have been getting my hair cut by the same person back home for over six years. I was initially hesitant and just wanting to get something to hold me over but I’m glad I opted to get cleaned up right. If you find yourself in River North because you live/work in the area or you’re just here on a trip, I highly recommend Anthony at Talc + Tonic for a shave, haircut or both.

Visit to Chicago on business, by happenstance saw Talc & Tonic in the hotel lobby. I needed a beard trim and decided to book an appointment. Best decision I made for my self care! Anthony really took care of my request and provided great service and tips for my beard maintenance. Great young black man with skills! Highly recommend.
