I hade a wonderful experience at Thrive Hair Bar in DC today. It was very clean and professional. My stylist was Jamese and she was wonderful! She was friendly and took good care of me. The wash was truly a spa like experience and I loved it! Great job Jamese and the Thrive Hair Bar DC Team!

I had a great experience coming here during my internship in DC. I got a well needed silk press and hair cut, my ends had not been trimmed in 4 years so this was the perfect place to start regrowing my natural hair. It’s been since November when I got my hair done, and I don’t know what talk did but my hair had been growing like weeds. It’s also thicker and fuller compared to before the trip. Thank you so much for giving my hair potential. 💕

What a luxurious experience! I've been looking at this salon for a few months after discovering it on IG. Honestly, I was concerned about getting good value for the higher prices. Well, I can say that it was worth it. I got the Enchanting hybrid style with the moisture treatment with Grace. Things to note, they charge a 3% credit card fee. No fees on credit cards. They use a complimentary hand-held steamer on your hair with wash service. For the moisture treatment, a deep conditioner was applied, and I got under the steamer. As for service, the receptionist was very pleasant and professional. She offered a beverage while I waited for my stylist I chose a better and spinach shot (see photo), which I thought was lovely. The salon feels like a spa...the aroma, decor, vibe, etc. It was so relaxing. Grace was so gentle with my hair. She actually worked on my hair like it was her baby...no yanking or pulling in my 4C hair. I was so impressed. The products were clean, which I prefer, and naturally fragrant. My style was also neat, and I've received compliments both on the smell and style of my hair. I will be back! Thanks Grace.

Overall it was an ok experience. I believe I had Chris as my stylist. The ladies were all very kind. Enviornment was clean and Chris was very gentle with my hair. It was very luxurious feeling and very relaxing and quiet environment. My main critique was that Chris didn't really speak to me which I understand may be a part of the whole 'relaxing'/quiet environment thing. However, I expressed to Chris that my hair was damaged and that I was not experienced in taking care of my hair. I wanted her to talk to me more about managing natural hair and any tips she had for me but she kind of just smiled and kept her responses very short. I think she was more focused on the actual hair appointment and not on the entire process of having clients leave with a better understanding of their natural hair and hair care. Thrive Hair Bar kind of markets itself as a salon that is more holistic and I kind of felt like another client that was in and out. I wish during the hour long appointment she could have communicated with me more since I was very clear with her in telling her that I wanted more information on allowing my natural hair to thrive. We didn't really speak and so I guess I just didn't understand if having a conversation (during the hair appointment) about caring for natural hair was an inconvenience to her. Also I don't think she did a very good job at styling the hair. It was just a very straight to the point wash-and-go and nothing more than that. the styling didn't really happen so it kind of looked unfinished. I just think that it's important to remember that Thrive Hair Bar is not a cheap salon by any means and you pay a very pretty penny, so I would expect for more time to be spent to make it a more holistic experience. Overall I think Thrive is a place to go if you are very experienced with your natural hair.

I took my daughter to THB to get her hair done after taking out her locs. Amazing experience overall, it is a whole vibe. Nice decor throughout, including the bathroom. Excellent customer service and hospitality (we were offered smoothie shots, green tea, and water). Her stylist Kara was warm, personable and did a great job on her hair. As someone who values research, I was happy to see journal articles on various topics related to Black hair. I made an appointment for myself and will definitely return! This was the best experience I've ever had at a salon. My daughter was impressed!
