Went for my first official tattoo today. They were able to get me in due to a couple cancelations and Rachel did the work. I had a sketch and an idea and she brought it to life. This is a memorial/loved one piece and I've been sitting on it for about a year. I finally took the plunge and couldn't be happier. She was very easy to get along with, her line work is incredible, and she effectively communicated with me for perfect execution. I even changed a few things and she took it all in stride. I will not go to another place.

After searching through multiple tattoo shops and most turning me away I stopped into Van Gogh. I explained what I was looking for and they told me Dan would be the man. While working on a tattoo he still fielded questions and was more than happy to hear what I was thinking. I told him the objectives I was thinking about that I wanted in the tattoo as a military patriotic tattoo and he was more than happy to accommodate. The whole staff was super interested in what was going on and with in a month and a half I have a full military sleeve on my right arm I gave dan ideas and he ran with it. I am so happy I went with Dan and his imitation and the whole crew of Van Gogh seems as they’re a family there and not just their jobs. I highly recommend them and for sure will be back for more..

I've had a couple pieces by David over the years and he's fantastic, can't recommend him enough! His portfolio is full of realistic black and grey but the man also excels with bold colorwork. My first color piece remains unreasonably vibrant three years later. More recently, I had a wild idea that mixed black and grey with color. With David's help, it turned out glorious! Thanks to the older work, I have zero doubt it'll look amazing for a lifetime. If you look on their website, they've labeled a few artists as "award winning." During David's lunch break, I took a look around at the actual awards. They might want to emphasize this more. They travel to conventions/competitions around the Midwest and the guys from Van Gogh are taking home loads of awards like #1 in black and grey. They've walked in and proved themselves the best out of all the talented artists they could pack into a metropolitan convention hall. And they've done that for several, popular types of tattoo! That's wild. I can only speak to my personal experience with one artist, but signs are that this is little shop hosts an unreasonable amount of talent. It's a genuine hidden gem!
